At Vision Park Optometry, caring begins with a thorough eye examination. Your exam includes an intraocular pressure check, biomicroscopy and ophthalmoscopy to assess corneal and retinal health, as well as the determination of your proper eyeglasses prescription.

During your examination, special eye drops dilate the pupils for a more thorough evaluation. Mild side effects of the drops may include sensitivity to light and blurry vision for two to four hours. If you do not have far to travel, driving is permissible. Contact lenses cannot be worn until your pupils return to normal.

Because contact lenses correct vision by resting on the cornea, special measurements are taken to ensure the proper fit. Your contact lens fitting includes these measurements and all follow-up visits. If you have never worn contacts, you will receive special training on the proper care of your lenses and the correct insertion and removal techniques.

At Vision Park Optometry we offer free LASIK consultations to answer any questions that you may have that are applicable to your eyes and prescription. Also, feel free to use us as an information resource. We have resumes on different surgeons in the area, informational videotapes, brochures on the procedure and payment financing. Vision Park is also capable of taking care of all of your pre- and post-operative care.

Retinal imaging is an easy, inexpensive, way to more closely observe the interior of the eye. It is invaluable in diagnosing and eye disease and in following changes in your eyes which may occur over time.

Retinal imaging is also encouraged as a form of preventative health care. These images are used as a baseline for future exams.

Records of all special testing as well as photos will be sent to the specialist to maximize the continuity of your care.
